Vassar History

HISTORY

The community has a rich history dating back to the late 19th century. The community's origins can be traced to a post office established in 1871 in a now-extinct town called La Mont's Hill. In 1887, this post office was relocated to Vassar, marking the official establishment of the town.In 1969, Bruce and Veda Rogers, along with Veda's brother and sister-in-law, established the Vassar Playhouse. This venue became a cultural hub for the community, offering a space for theatrical performances and gatherings.
